Victor Boniface has hilariously said he is in line to win the "Memes d'Or" after being left off of the shortlist for African Footballer of the Year.

Boniface enjoyed a stunning season with Bayer Leverkusen, winning the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal and scoring 21 goals in all competitions, while also registering 10 assists. He was subsequently named in the Bundesliga's Team of the Season but he has amazingly been left out of the shortlist for the African Player of the Year award.

The list is made up of the following players: Amine Gouri (Rennes), Edmond Tapsoba (Bayer Leverkusen), Simon Adingra (Brighton), Chancel Mbemba (Marseille), Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund), Achraf Hakimi (PSG), Soufiane Rahimi (Al Ain), Ademola Lookman (Atalanta), William Troost-Ekong (Al Kholood) and Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns).
