Both Ryan Jack and Glenn Kamara have been in excellent form in the heart of Rangers’ midfield of late, but the former looks set for a spell on the sideline after collecting a foot injury against Aberdeen.
What’s the word?
Jack may have finished the SFA Cup tie on Sunday afternoon but it seems he may have been playing through the pain barrier as the game drew to a close.
According to a recent report from Evening Times, the 27-year-old midfielder has been given a protective boot to wear following a hospital assessment on his foot.
Exactly how long the influential midfielder could be sidelined before remains unclear, but the initial prognosis doesn’t sound overly promising for a vital cog in Steven Gerrard’s machine.
Kamara’s time to shine
With Rangers’ midfield lynchpin looking destined for a brief absence at the very least, the true extent of Kamara’s quality will now be placed under the microscope.
Eulogisers have already drawn parallels between the Finland international and the former Arsenal maestro Patrick Vieira, but without the incredibly reliable Jack alongside him it will be interesting to see if the legitimacy behind those comments can stay the course.

Jack’s absence will naturally increase the importance of Kamara’s energy and ball-winning prowess in midfield, two attributes which Vieira built his career on.
So far his ability to combine defensive solidity with a diverse range of forward-thinking passing seems to have convinced sections of the Gers faithful that he could be a future captain in waiting, and with a senior figure sidelined he must take the opportunity to justify the gushing praise which has flown in his direction since moving to Ibrox.
