Austin FC are finalizing plans to sign Brandon Vazquez from Monterrey in a deal worth more than $6 million, Tom Bogert reported. The No. 9, who has scored four goals in 11 appearances for the USMNT, is set to serve as the starting center forward for Austin.

Vazquez established himself as a consistent goalscorer in his first year with Monterrey, finding the net 14 times. San Jose Earthquakes were also reportedly in the running for the forward – but the Texas side have reportedly done enough to get the deal over the line.

Vazquez previously played in MLS, scoring 28 and adding 12 assists across two seasons for FC Cincinnati. He also spent three years at Atlanta United.
