Tottenham Hotspur fans want Jan Vertonghen to start at left-back if Ben Davies is ruled out for a significant length of time.
PA Sport journalist Jonathan Veal reported on Tuesday evening that the Wales international wore a protective boot and was using crutches as he came through the mixed zone following the 4-2 win over Olympiacos in the Champions League.
Davies reportedly said that it “doesn’t look good” as he spoke with journalists, and Football London report that the injury was sustained during the 3-2 win over West Ham United at the weekend.
He subsequently missed the victory over the Greek side, with Danny Rose, his replacement, at fault for their first goal, as he failed to clear a hopeful pass that was dropping over his shoulder.
And fans have reacted to the news by calling for Vertonghen to play at full-back instead of the England international.
The Belgian impressed there under Mauricio Pochettino last season, turning in a virtuoso display against Borussia Dortmund in Europe, scoring once and also laying on an assist.
