The Reds have initiated contract talks with three star players, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who are in the final years of their respective contracts. According to The Sun, while talks have progressed with Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold remains far from agreeing on a new deal. The report further adds that the club are unwilling to pay the full-back more than Salah and Van Dijk, who currently earn £350,000 and £220,000, respectively.

The English defender, on the other hand, has offers from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. If he decides to move to either of the two European giants, he could earn much more than what the Premier League side is offering him at the moment. The 26-year-old is currently on a £180,000-a-week deal.
